I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel, where the staff made me feel genuinely welcome. The rooms were spacious with lovely original features, which gave a nice traditional vibe, although the cleanliness could have been better. I thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience, especially the Sunday lunch which was excellent value for money. However, the overall condition of some areas was a bit shabby and could use a revamp.

The kings suite was big and spacious, featuring nice original details like sash windows. However, it was somewhat dirty and unkept.

The service was a bit disorganized, likely due to them being busy with a wedding, but the staff remained attentive which made a big difference.

I had a mixed experience at the hotel. The beautiful grounds and historic charm stood out, along with the spacious, comfortable room. However, the service was a letdown, and I faced several maintenance issues during my stay. Overall, while the ambience is lovely and the breakfast options were decent, some aspects need serious improvements.

My stay at this hotel was a mixed bag. While the quirky character and fantastic staff made it memorable, the rooms left much to be desired, especially dealing with the cleanliness issues. The food was great when it finally arrived, but the service could be frustrating at times. Overall, I enjoyed the unique vibe, but improvements are definitely needed.

Rooms

The rooms had a lot of character but were a bit dusty with some cleanliness issues. While the decor was interesting, some aspects felt neglected. The bathroom was quite old-fashioned, which might not appeal to everyone.

Dining
8.0
The dining experience was a highlight, especially the food when it finally came out. However, the wait for service left much to be desired, which took away from the experience.

The facilities, including the pool and spa, were a disappointment as I found out they had been closed for some time. It would have been great to enjoy those amenities.

5.6/10

I recently attended a wedding at Risley Hall, and the venue was simply stunning, with beautiful grounds and a seamless event managed by Micheal and Sara. However, my stay was marred by significant issues such as a lack of hot water and poorly maintained rooms. Overall, the wedding experience was excellent, but it seems the hotel has room for improvement in other areas to cater to overnight guests.

Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in was far below the standard shown in photos, featuring worn-out furniture and issues like non-working lights and no hot water after 9 PM. It was disappointing, to say the least.
Service
5.0
While the staff were friendly and attentive during the wedding, it felt like they were overwhelmed and the overall management was lacking, especially when support was needed after issues arose.
Location
6.0
The location was quite nice for weddings and events, although the atmosphere was affected by smokers nearby, which was a nuisance during the early hours of the morning.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were very limited, with a menu that felt more like a roadside cafe. The service was also lacking, as drinks weren't offered during meals.
Facilities
5.0
The advertised spa was closed during my visit, which was a letdown, and overall, the facilities felt unmaintained.
Beautiful wedding venue

We found this hotel at an incredible price, but it had its ups and downs. The rooms were a mixed bag; the old Manor House had a charming rustic feel, while the suite in the newer block was more modern but needed a few touch-ups. The service was hit or miss, especially during breakfast, which was quite chaotic. Overall, for the price we paid, it was decent, but there are definitely areas that need improvement.

Rooms
7.0
The first room had plenty of character but was a bit old-fashioned, while the suite was spacious and noticeably more modern, though it needed some maintenance.
Service
5.0
The reception staff was really helpful and apologetic about the room change, but the breakfast service felt understaffed and disorganized.
Location
8.0
The hotel was conveniently situated near a pub, just a short walk away, which was great for dinner.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast left much to be desired, being chaotic and underwhelming, though the dinner we had was also not impressive, lacking in variety and quality.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel needed some investment in maintenance, as there were several issues with the bathrooms and overall cleanliness, which detracted from the experience.
